Monday Morning Quarterback....
I'm not sure how to react to the Jets' loss yesterday to the Steelers. On one hand, I feel like we cost ourselves the game with all those stupid penalties in the first half when we could have scored a couple of touchdowns, taken the crowd out of it, taken away their running game, blown it open, etc.. So maybe it was a good loss, in the fact that we know we can beat the Steelers if we don't make so many mental mistakes (e.g. penalties)
On the other hand, I don't feel there's such a thing as a "moral victory". Even with the myriad of penalties, we were still in the game up until the last half of the 4th quarter. A loss is a loss.

I don't think the penalties cost them any points in the first half. There were a lot of them, but they weren't doing all that much to begin with.
They are not as good as Pittsburgh or New England, they are on the second tier of good teams in the NFL with Atlanta and San Diego.
There were a couple of long yardage plays that got called back for offensive penalties. Drives stalled because of the penalties. Who's to say they wouldn't have scored another field goal or a touchdown in the first half.
I agree that the Jets are on the second tier of good teams in the AFC. Until they can string together a strong 60 minutes of play, they won't catch up to the Steelers or Pats.
