How about instant messenger service?

At first I wondered how come the microwave oven isn't on the list, but after some research I found that the countertop version was invented more than 25 years ago, so it didn't meat the criteria.

Wouldn't the internet fall under the general umbrella of PCs?

Definitely not under the same umbrella. The PC gave people access to all kinds of personal software, gaming, etc. The internet is a whole different thing.

But if the internet is considered a separate category, why isn't email lumped in there with it?
