Have You Ever Seen A Rabbit With Glasses?

Yes, the answer to every kid's question; "Why do I have to eat carrots? How do you know they'll make my eyes better?"

As a child, I had no reason to doubt that my parents were correct, but as I got older, doubt crept in.

First, the obvious: How could a rabbit wear glasses? The glasses would just fall off if you tried to put them on.

It was actually a rumor started during World War II by the British to cover up a newly developed system they invented for their fighter pilots: Airborne Interception Rader, also known as AI. British Intelligence didn't want the Germans to find out about the new technology so they created a rumor that all of their pilots increased their daily intake of carrots to improve their eyesight in the dark. They hoped that explanation would explain why the Brits had suddenly increased the number of German bombers they were shooting down.

Here's the full article with the scientific explanation also.

A Sure Shot For The Hall Of Fame....

I wonder if this is a guaranteed formula to get elected to the NBA Hall Of Fame:

Play for a high school championship team + play for an NCAA championship team + play for an NBA championship team.

Off the top of my head I figured these guys fit the bill.....
Michael Jordan
Magic Johnson
Bill Walton
Kareem Abdul Jabar

I'll have to do some research later and confirm.....

Pickup Ball At The Local Y......

Just a fun article to read about pick-up ball.

A quick excerpt....

If you stare at pro players long enough, they start to look less like
superheroes and more like the guys we've all hooped with at the YMCA. Ricky
Davis isn't one of the NBA's top bench players. He's that annoying guy who
thinks he's the team captain.

Congrats.....

Another one of my friends has gotten engaged.

Congratulations to Brian.

His older brother, Matt, beat him in the race to get engaged (although he had a 5 year head-start), so now let's see who gets to the altar first.

Here's an idea:

Hold a joint wedding.

Your initial reaction might think it's silly, but think about it. Aside from a handful or so, Matt's and Brian's guest lists will identical. It would also be a huge money saver. Would only have to rent out the reception hall once, pay the DJ once, etc.... The only hurdle would be getting everyone to agree on a date, church, reception hall......

Is Email Dying?....

Seems like blogging has taken over for emailing. My group of friends used to email quite often about various topics and we'd get into a group discussion via email. Now everyone is starting up their own blogs and posting their thoughts on their sites. Now discussions are being held in the comments area.

Personal emails still go out once in a while, or topics that we don't want discussed in public (technically all of our blogs are out in public, but no one ever checks them except for our group of friends, but anyway....).

I think it's a good thing. Now we can all write down all of our thoughtful, crazy, silly ideas and our 'inboxes' don't get filled up.
