"best point guard in the league"....
vs
"
Let's just get it out on the table now, because"
Tuesday night, after Steve Nash and the Suns showed up at Madison Square Garden
and defeated the Knicks 133-118, this debate is going to happen … again.
The perception is that Tuesday's matchup represents the tale of two
point guards.
The Suns are led by the NBA's most selfless point guard –
a guy who leads the league in assists and only takes shots when there's no one
on the floor with a better one.
The Knicks are led by the NBA's
self-proclaimed best point guard – a guy who fills up a stat sheet everywhere
but where it counts: in the victory column.
When his career is over, will that be Marbury's legacy? That he was a great player, but not a winner? Will he be grouped with the likes of Tracy McGrady?
Will he ever be viewed in the eyes of his critics as a winner? Will he be compared to Jason Kidd and Steve Nash?
Maybe it's still too early to tell. He's only been in the league 7 years, only halfway thru his career. Only time will tell.

Marbury plays 1.5 and not true point guard. He's the most talented PG int he league, but he's clearly not the best.
By the way, Nash has never won anything, either. Even when he was teamed with Dirk and Finley.
Kidd has guided an otherwise mediocre Nets team to back to back Eastern conference championships and that in itself is a huge accomplishment.
The best true PG ever was Isiah Thomas who dished first, but could score when necessary. Marbury should try to play like him, as he is one of the only people capable.
Magic Johnson was better than Isiah, but he was not just PG, he did everything. He could literally play every position at an all-star level.
Let's get this out of the way: Nash is the best PG so far this season. When fully healthy, Kidd is the best PG in the league.
I have to defend Marbury though. Stephon's problem is that when he dishes the lane, draws 3 people and dishes the ball, Kurt Thomas is the only guy who consistenly hits the spot-up jumper. Tim Thomas is a pussy, Nazr Mohammed drops half the passes that get thrown to him, and the rest of the team just isn't that good. He does look to dish and set guys up, but his team isn't as talented as Nash, or even guys like Jamaal Tinsley and Mike Bibby.
Stephon could play better defense, though.
Wasn't Marbury on the Suns team last year that started out 12-22? Granted the Suns also picked up QRich in the offseason, but it's basically the same team, except with Nash running the point instead of Marbury.
