Professional Players' Salaries....

Whenever a pro player's salary is mentioned, it is always X amount per year over Z years.

Does anyone know if the pro gets a paycheck every week? every two weeks? bi-monthly?

And does she/he get that check throughout the year or only during the season?

I remember seeing an interview once with Larry Bird after he recently retired, where he was being asked about if the money matters to him, or if it's all about the game, and he said something like, "They send it [the money] to the bank, and I get a report on it each month, but I've never broken down." [like, that he personally doesn't worry about counting it or going nuts spending it.]

But, the point is that I think because it's so much money, all of these guys have financial advisors that handle all of their business. I don't think Shaquille O'Neal is writing mortgage payments personally each month, in other words. I bet the teams just divide their salary by 12 and the money gets automatically transferred monthly into whatever accounts they want.
